China Memory (Ceramic Culture and Catering) by Yinluo Du
2016 - 2017, Golden A' Interior Space and Exhibition Design Award Winner
I am very interested in traditional Chinese culture, especially the love of ceramic culture. In addition, I also focus on the design and operation of the restaurant, so the combination of culture and food, is a very interesting project. The restaurant design and other restaurants are not the same, in China, many restaurants are more commercial, or the lack of theme, and this restaurant is indeed very cultural connotations.
Jingdezhen is the Millennium ceramic culture city. The restaurant, located in Shanghai, China, is designed to incorporate Jingdezhen's ceramic culture into the space. Therefore, it is a cultural restaurant. People in the dining at the same time, but also feel and learn more about China's traditional ceramic culture.
Design Challenges
The biggest challenge of this project is to make ceramic lamps, dining tables, and the combination of ceramic materials made of wood and doors. In this project, there are many places that have never been before, which for me is a big challenge.
Production Technology
The restaurant has an area of more than 1,000 square feet. In the restaurant, we imitate the firing of ceramic kilns, and transform it into a place to burn roast duck, but also a good place to show. In addition, the ceramic into the space design, a lot of ceramics such as ceramic lamps, ceramic tables, etc., which have to go through a lot of attempts to succeed.
