Goccia (Container) by Giuliano Ricciardi

A Buoy suspended in mid-air, a reference point such as the domestic hearth, a place of gathering, for thought, Goccia represents a contemporary vision of it.
These container, whose shape ideally recalls that of a drop, can be used for various purposes, in fact the ceramic material in addition to make it suitable to contain food, it allows for both indoor and outdoor use. Equipped with warm white led light, these containers become diffusers of soft light, creating the right atmosphere for the surrounding environment. Goccia is available in 3 sizes, the largest of which can be completed by an oak top.
Design Challenges
The first difficulty was found during the hand-working of the prototype, because it is not easy to work the clay on the lathe to reproduce precisely an organic shape, in 3 different scales. I had to consider also the weight and characteristics of the ceramic I wanted a system that was at the same time simple for maintenance and visibly minimal for suspension. For this purpose a truncated cone of wood was made, which fits into the neck of the container thanks to its own weight, to which the rope is engaged. The lamp holder, powered by a decorative electric cable, is attached to the same wooden element.
Production Technology
